Smith School of Business, testified before the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee on "The Fiscal Situation of the United States." Faulkender, a former Treasury Department official, addressed economic recovery, inflation, and fiscal policies. He also hosts the Finance Grand Challenges Speaker Series, featuring prominent figures discussing federal budget and economic issues.

The University of Maryland’s longstanding commitment to instill innovation in Terps helped place it among the nation’s top schools for entrepreneurship education in rankings released Nov. 15, by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine.

Joseph Bailey recalls plotting an electrical engineering career path while growing up in northern New Jersey. Subsequent study at Carnegie Mellon led him to explore that field in a public policy context at Stanford. Then at MIT, he added telecommunications to the mix and co-authored the seminal 1995 book “Internet Economics.”

2023 will mark the 25th anniversary of the official naming of the Robert H. Smith School of Business. During this landmark year, the school will celebrate the life and legacy of Robert H. Smith and reflect on the impact of his philanthropic investment in the school.

Dean Prabhudev C. Konana, along with faculty, administrators and students, took a bold step toward the school’s future by outlining goals to reimagine learning, curricula and programs, address society’s grand challenges, invest in people and communities, and build a solid foundation for operational health, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the school’s naming and the 50th anniversary of the school becoming a separate college.
