Admissions Information

Student Qualifications

QUEST is a three-year academic program, therefore, business, engineering and CMPS freshman are encouraged to apply. Admittance to the QUEST Program is contingent upon current admission to one of these participating schools. Students who are interested in applying to QUEST should achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have taken a minimum of 12 credit hours at the University of Maryland, College Park. Students admitted into the program are expected to remain active for the duration of the entire program.

Admissions Process

Each spring QUEST collects applications for the incoming cohort (a cohort is a group of students who enter the program together and participate in classes together). Applications are available online at the beginning of the spring semester and those applying will enter general information, answer essay questions and collect one letter of recommendation. Applications are reviewed by a selections committee comprised of students, alumni, faculty and staff, and applicants are notified during mid or late April.

Expectations

All incoming QUEST students must participate in an offsite orientation prior to the start of classes the fall that they are admitted. QUEST Orientation takes place Sunday - Monday prior to the first day of fall classes each year (unless classes begin following the Labor Day Holiday).

As a member of QUEST, each student is required to complete a sequence of courses that train students in quality enhancement through teamwork as well as participate in additional extra-curricular enhancement activities. For more information about the curriculum and enhancement activities, click here.
