UMD to Host Baltimore Ravens Coach and Navy Rear Admiral to Discuss Teamwork

College Park, MD — April 12, 2016 — University of Maryland students, faculty and the public will hear the secrets of leading a team to success from NFL Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and Rear Adm. Thomas Lynch (retired), commander of the Navy Battle Group in Operation Desert Shield and executive chairman of NewDay USA. The talk will be hosted by the Ed Snider Center for Enterprise and Markets at the Robert H. Smith School of Business on Wednesday, April 20 at 5 p.m. at Ritchie Coliseum on the university’s College Park campus.

Professor Rajshree Agarwal, director of the Snider Center, will moderate the discussion, which will cover topics such as being a team member, team identity and team leadership. Coach Harbaugh and Admiral Lynch will also discuss the potential tradeoffs between purpose and profit.

“The guests will share their views on principled enterprise — the notion that business can create prosperity and impact the wellbeing of individuals and society in service, sports and business,” Agarwal says.

This free event is open to the public and part of the NewDay Enterprise and Leadership Forum, created in collaboration by the Snider Center and NewDay USA, one of the nations leading mortgage lender for veterans and one of the largest companies in Maryland.

"NewDay USA is creating a culture of “character based leadership.”  We are proud of our new partnership with the University of Maryland’s Snider Center that will focus on developing leaders for tomorrow,” said Rob Posner, CEO of NewDay USA.
