Congratulations to Smith PhD and Faculty Researchers

Several exciting new Smith School research projects received awards to continue the progress in the school’s first Entrepreneurship Research Competition Awards, sponsored by the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship. Smith faculty and PhD students were invited to submit published research, working papers and preliminary research in the area of entrepreneurship to compete for funding awards in the contest. Grants totaling $7,000 were awarded in three categories: PhD Student Research in Progress, PhD Student Working Paper, and Faculty/Student Journal Acceptance.

PhD Student - Research in Progress

  • Winner ($1000): Mingfeng Lin, Siva Viswanathan, Borrowing from Strangers: An Empirical Investigation of Online Peer-to-Peer Financial Lending for Entrepreneurs
  • Finalist ($500): R. Scott Livengood, Entrepreneurial Actions vs. Institutions: Examining Market Discourse and the Market Process

PhD Student - Working Paper

  • Winner ($1500): Sheetal Singh, Practical Intelligence of High Potential Entrepreneurs: Antecedents and Links to New Venture Growth
