G. “Anand” Anandalingam
Anand
Anandalingam is the Ralph J. Tyser
Professor of Management Science and
Chair of the Department
of Decision and Information Technologies.
He is also the founder of the
Center on Electronic
Markets and Enterprises at the Smith
School of Business and was the
co-director from 2001-2004. Before
joining the Smith School, he was with the University of
Pennsylvania for almost 15 years where
he was the National Center Professor of
Resource and Technology Management, and
a professor of operations and
information management at the Wharton
School. He was chair of the department
of systems engineering at the University
of Pennsylvania from January 1997 to May
2001. He also directed the Executive
Master's Program in Technology
Management from 1990 to 1995.
Dr. Anandalingam is an
associate editor of Management
Science and Operations Research, and
serves on the editorial board of the
Journal of Telecommunications Systems
and Networks and Spatial Economics.
He has also guest edited a volume of
Management Science on Electronic Markets.
He is a senior member of both INFORMS
(Institute for Operations Research and
Management Science) and IEEE ( Institute
of Electrical and Electronic Engineers).
He received his PhD from Harvard
University.
Michael O. Ball
Michael
Ball is the Orkand Corporation
Professor of Management Science in the
Robert H. Smith School of Business at
the University of Maryland. He also
holds a joint appointment within the
Institute for Systems Research (ISR) in
the Clark School of Engineering. He is
former chair of the decision and
information technologies faculty area
within the Robert H. Smith School of
Business and former chair of the
Executive Committee of the Institute for
Systems Research. He is currently director of
research for the Smith
School.
Dr. Ball's research interests
are in network optimization and integer
programming particularly as applied to
problems in transportation systems and
supply chain management.. He is
co-director of NEXTOR, the National
Center of Excellence for Aviation
Operations Research. Within NEXTOR,
which is funded by the FAA, NASA and
members of the airline industry, he
directs the Collaborative Decision
Making research project. The
interdisciplinary nature of his work led
to Dr. Ball receiving the Outstanding
Systems Engineering Faculty Award from
the ISR in 1997. He has over 100
publications in the aforementioned areas
and has made over 100 presentations on
these topics. He also has extensive
consulting experience, which, in certain
cases, has led to the development and
successful implementation of major
software systems. He
received his PhD from Cornell
University.
