Highlights

Philip T. Evers, associate professor of logistics, serves as the advisor for six regional roundtables of the Council of Logistics Management, a nonprofit organization of educators and professionals promoting logistics in manufacturing, transportation, distribution, retailing, and consulting.

The Supply Chain Management Center received a $2.2-million contract from the U.S.
Department of Defense to explore how the military can optimize its supply chain. Utilizing the center’s advanced simulation, planning, and optimization tools, the researchers will provide a solution that can be adapted by other organizations with large-scale operations.

RECOGNITION

In spring 2005, the Transportation Journal ranked the faculty #3 in terms of research productivity from 1999-2004, continuing a 30-year tradition of outstanding scholarship
by the department.

The department’s academic programs have received high marks from students, companies, and national business publications. In 2007, U.S. News & World Report ranked Smith’s  undergraduate program in supply chain management/logistics #7 nationally.
