After climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, I opted for a few days relaxing on the beach in Kendwa, Zanzibar before setting off on a safari:

Two great things about Arusha National Park: (1) they allow walking safaris  (with an armed ranger) so you aren't confined to the jeep, and (2) it has the most dense population of giraffes of any of the parks:
