Faculty Profile
Mr. Jacobs practiced corporate securities and M&A law for over 30 years with
Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue and Heller Ehrman LLP, and as Executive Vice
President, Secretary and General Counsel of three NYSE-listed companies. He was
also a member of the Staff of the SEC in Washington, DC. and a practicing tax
accountant with Grant Thornton. He has been a member of the Board of Directors
of two public companies and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Southwestern
University School of Law and Cal Western School of Law, lecturing in Corporation
Law, Securities Regulation, Law and Accounting, and Real Estate Taxation. He
also lectured in Entrepreneurship at the Clark School of Engineering at the
University of Maryland before joining the faculty of the Robert H. Smith School
of Business. He is a member of: the Mergers & Acquisition Committee of the
Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, the National Association
of Corporate Directors and the NASDAQ Delisting Panel. He holds a BS degree in
Accounting from the University of Maryland and a JD degree from the University
of Baltimore School of Law. Mr. Jacobs is licensed as a CPA in Maryland and
California, and admitted to practice law in California, Texas and the District
of Columbia.
